BRITTANI BOOKER PLEASANT, ESQ.

FOUNDER/CEO

Brittani Booker Pleasant is a transactional and litigation attorney known for one thing above all: protecting what people build and making sure it lasts. Her work centers on safeguarding businesses, securing assets, and helping families preserve what matters most—because to her, the law isn’t just about winning cases, it’s about defending legacy.

A proven leader on local, regional, and national levels, Brittani served two terms as President of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), where she led the organization through a period of historic growth. Her leadership has always extended beyond titles—she has consistently poured into others, mentoring aspiring attorneys and young women throughout San Antonio and beyond.

She earned her Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law, where her commitment to excellence and leadership first gained recognition, including the NAACP Torch-Bearer Award. Since then, her work has earned her repeated honors, including Scene in SA’s Best Lawyer (multiple years), Rising Star, National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch.

As the founder of B. Pleasant Law, PLLC, Brittani has built a thriving Texas-based firm dedicated to serving business owners, investors, and families. Whether structuring deals, resolving disputes, or guiding clients through life’s most important transitions, her mission remains the same: protect the investment, defend the legacy.

Outside the courtroom and boardroom, Brittani is a wife and mother of three, who she considers her greatest motivation.

Meet the Team

Senior Associate & Head of Personal Injury Division

Nadine Dunbar-Gills, Esq.

Nadine Dunbar Gills is a seasoned civil and personal injury attorney with over 20 years of experience, licensed in Texas and Louisiana. She is known for strategic case development, strong negotiation, and effective advocacy, with a track record of securing significant recoveries for injured clients.

Before joining B. Pleasant Law, PLLC, she ran a successful civil practice for 15 years and later served as a Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney at a leading Texas personal injury firm, handling complex commercial disputes and high-value trucking and catastrophic injury cases. Earlier in her career, she worked across multiple areas of state government, including the Governor’s Office, Attorney General’s Office, and District Attorney’s Office.

Nadine earned her J.D. from Southern University Law Center and is admitted in all state courts in Texas and Louisiana. She is also a Notary Public, real estate professional, and former adjunct professor of paralegal studies. She is an active member of the State Bar of Texas, Louisiana State Bar Association, and the San Antonio Black Lawyers Association.

Therese "Teri" Carter Mellgren, Esq.

Therese “Teri” Carter is the owner and managing attorney of Carter Law, PLLC in San Antonio, Texas, and a highly regarded trial attorney with extensive experience in probate, estate planning, family, criminal, and litigation of the same. Known for her responsiveness and aggressive advocacy, she delivers strategic, results-driven guidance across a broad range of legal matters.

A cum laude graduate of St. Mary’s University, she earned her Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s School of Law. Early in her career, she worked at top Texas law firms, building a strong foundation in family law and criminal defense before expanding into complex probate and litigation work. Over time, she has earned a reputation as one of the more respected trial attorneys in Texas.

Since joining B. Pleasant Law as Of-Counsel in 2025, Teri has become a key part of the firm, recognized for her fast response time and hands-on approach to client representation. She is known for emphasizing urgency in legal matters, advising clients to act quickly to protect their rights and avoid preventable disadvantages.

Patsy Jones

Patsy Jones new mother of a beautiful baby boy, and a certified Paralegal. She graduated class with honors and is a distinguished graduate for outstanding excellence in her department of study. Jones has always aspired to be an attorney, but later realized her calling as a paralegal once she began studying in her field. She is currently pursuing her NALA certification.

Paralegal

Michelle Bracco

Michelle Bracco is a seasoned paralegal with over 25 years of experience and a disabled U.S. Army veteran who served for more than six years. She brings a strong background in legal support and human services, holding associate degrees as a human services practitioner and paralegal, as well as a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, with a focus on supporting military members, veterans, and their families.

Michelle is actively involved in community and service organizations, including the NAACP, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Golden Key, and NSLS. Her work has earned national recognition, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights Top Paralegal Achievement Award for eliminating the nationwide HIPAA compliance backlog, along with honors such as the All-Academic Team of Massachusetts.

Intake Specialist

Jonathan Almaguer

Jonathan Almaguer is a Legal Intake Specialist at B. Pleasant Law Firm, where he’s often the first voice clients hear. With over a decade of experience in hospitality at Marriott Int. and Hilton, Jonathan brings a warm, people-first approach to every conversation — quickly building trust and making clients feel at ease.

He began his legal journey during the COVID-19 pandemic, earning an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies after previously completing an Associate’s in Liberal Arts from Northwest Vista College. In 2024, he made the full transition into the legal field, driven by a passion for helping people navigate difficult decisions and seek fair outcomes.

Jonathan believes that simply listening can go a long way, and he’s proud to support clients through every step of their legal process. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing in Port Aransas, Texas, whenever he gets the chance.

Jacqueline Cisneros

Jacqueline Cisneros is an accomplished Billing Specialist with over a decade of experience in legal billing and more than seven years of leadership experience. She brings a proven track record of accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism to her role, ensuring that all billing operations are handled with the highest level of integrity and attention to detail.

A proud native of San Antonio, Texas, Jacqueline combines her extensive industry expertise with a strong commitment to excellence and teamwork. She is dedicated to supporting organizational goals through meticulous billing management and collaborative problem-solving.

Outside of work, Jacqueline values family, community, and giving back to the city that shaped her.

Elaine Simons

Elaine began her legal career in 2015 and brings more than ten years of administrative and legal experience to her work. She holds a Paralegal Certificate from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is a Certified Paralegal through the NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants).

Elaine’s experience includes family law, estate planning, personal injury, business law, and disability matters. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants), PD (Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas), the Texas Bar College, and SAPA (San Antonio Paralegal Association), where she has served in multiple leadership roles, including President.

Elaine enjoys mentoring new paralegals and collaborating with her team to make a positive difference in clients’ lives. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with her son, who lives in Georgia.
